ΨΗΧΟΣ is the musique concrète project of Iceland-based field recordist Lydia Athanasopoulou. The name (read PSEE-khos) joins the Greek words for sound (ήχος) and frost (ψύχος). Her new album "Nine Lessons in Listening" coincides with & emerges from her migration from the noisy centre of Athens, GR to Siglufjörður, North Iceland – a remote fishing village 40 km from the Arctic Circle. Featuring nine sound sculptures / collages composed with field recordings, found sounds and sonic events.
