Where

Voix de la rivière is an interactive sound-based installation and web stream that uses a hydrophone and solar-powered FM transmitter to share the sounds of Quebec’s Haute-Yamaska river with listeners around the world. Launching on July 18 as part of the international World Listening Day celebrations, this project runs until October 15th (weather permitting). If you’re in (or near) Quebec’s Eastern Townships, you can come visit the site-specific listening station installed at the Relais McLaughlin in Warden (located at 211 rue Principale, adjacent to the Estriade bicycle path network) and use a vintage telephone to dial in to the real-time underwater sounds of the nearby Haute-Yamaska. If you aren’t able to travel, you can also tune in to streaming audio from the river on Locus Sonus: http://locus.creacast.com:9001/warden_haute_yamaska.ogg

This project received financial support from the Conseil des Arts et des Lettres du Québec, the MRC Haute-Yamaska, and the municipality of Warden as part of the Territorial Program of Estrie.
