DESCRIPTION:This activity explores how sound helps us construct a new sense
  of everyday life in unfamiliar territory. Walking becomes an act of orien
 tation\, and listening\, an invisible compass that gradually reveals the c
 omplexities of this new landscape. Starting at River Park and walking alon
 g the spine of the river\, I invite you to relive my experience on my firs
 t day in Chicago\, after a 14-hour flight from Chile\, and how listening b
 ecame a powerful ally for simultaneously belonging\, questioning\, and ult
 imately creating.\nRiver Park is located at 5100 N Francisco Ave. Meet at

 pez F.\nMauricio López F. is a multidisciplinary artist from Santiago\, C
 hile currently based in Chicago\, USA. Emerging from Chile’s early hardc
 ore punk scene\, he later studied Musical Composition at the Escuela Moder
 na de Música and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Aesthetics from the Pont
 ificia Universidad Católica\, focusing on the Chilean avant-garde scene. 
 He recently completed an MFA in Sound at SAIC with a full scholarship. His
  practice explores the entanglement of visuality\, sound\, and motion thro
 ugh unexpected social synchronizations.López F. has received several reco
 gnitions\, including a Foundation for Contemporary Arts Grant and a Fellow
 ship from The Arts Club of Chicago. He is a resident of the Chicago Artist
 s Coalition and an Artist-in-Residence at the Bemis Center for Contemporar
 y Arts. He was also selected as a Newcity Breakout Artist for 2026. His wo
 rk has been presented across the Americas\, Europe\, and Asia\, highlighti
 ng Centro Cultural GAM\, EXPO Chicago\, the Chicago Architecture Biennial\
 , Gallery 400\, Kobun Gallery (Japan)\, and the Ars Electronica Festival (
 Austria).
